Oak Hills at Mason Basketball

Oak Hills at Mason mens basketball was my last regular season game of the winter sports season.  Luckily the weather forecast from earlier in the week changed and the snow stayed away.  Mason honored their Senior athletes both before the game and at halftime.  They played tough and pulled out the win on their special night.  Here are a few of my favorites from the JV & Varsity games:

Mason JV White Basketball

by Barb Trimble on February 22, 2010

in Basketball, Sports

As many of you around here know, we have had a lot of snow this year which caused numerous changes to sports schedules.  I was originally going to photograph Colerain at Mason at the beginning of February but the snow changed those plans.  Unfortunately on the day it was rescheduled I had some other commitments already so I could only photograph the JV-White game.  Since I had a request to photograph this team I wanted to make sure I got there in case more snow caused the cancellation of their last home game on Friday night.  It was great to meet the person who made the request.  I do not get to meet all my customers so it really is nice to get opinions from the ones I meet.  Feedback can only make my business and me better.  All images from the game are available through the Game Proofs link above, here are a few of my favorites.

I like the coach in the background pointing the same way.

GMC Wrestling Tournament

by Barb Trimble on February 18, 2010

in Sports, Wrestling

The GMC High School Wrestling Tournament was held last Saturday at Oak Hills High School.  I really admire the parents for attending these day long tournaments.  There is constantly action going on but having to wait for your athlete to take the mat, watch them and then wait for their next match has be tiring in a way.  I do know that I was worn out at the end and that gym floors are not made for sitting, kneeing and squatting on for that length of time.  But enough about any of my discomfort, I was not the one wrestling.  Wrestlers are very flexible yet strong.  Here are a few images to prove that:

Not sure I could untwist and straighten up from that.

Try touching your own knee to your head and see if you can move after that.

Friday night basketball, a battle between Lakota West and Lakota East, add in a few hundred fans and it was a great night.  While the weather was cold outside the gym was warm and full of energy.  I photographed all 3 games and each game delivered on the intensity that comes with this rivalry.  Typically I only show a few images in my posts but today I had trouble limiting my favorites so you get 18 images.  Like normal, all the game images are available for viewing through the Game Proofs link above.  Here are my favorites:

Finding a way to get the shot up between 3 defenders.

Slam number 1 of the contest.

Which got the already noisy crowd even more fired up.

At the end of the game it came down to free throws to preserve the lead.  The bench sent positive vibes out to the shooter.

A wide look at a free throw attempt with just over a minute left in the game.

Rob | High School Senior

by Barb Trimble on February 12, 2010

in Portraits, Seniors

With Rob’s session I used a different lighting setup and I like the results.  Those of you who know me, know that I like change.  That I want each session to be unique.  Every person is unique and their images should reflect that.  When I setup the session with Rob’s mom we talked about getting some outdoor images if the weather permitted.  Given January in Ohio you never know what you are going to get.  It was a pretty cold day with leftover snow on the ground.  I was itching to go outside but I left it up to Rob.  He decided to head outside at the end of the session for a few quick images.  We definitely made it quick given the temperature.  Here are a few from the session.

There is a flash on the ground behind him to give a slightly different look to the background.
