Things I Learned This Weekend

As some of you may know, my husband and I have been working on a flooring project.  We have been installing hardwood in the family room, entrance and my office.  This required removing carpet and old hardwood that did not match the new hardwood.  Last weekend we tackled the family room.  It is the last room on the main floor that still needed the hardwood installed.  Here are a few things I learned along the way:

1.  I learned how to use a pneumatic stapler.

2.  Using a pneumatic stapler will make me sore.

3.  I learned how to use a mitre saw.

4.  Watching World Cup soccer while installing the floor will slow down the process.

5.  The puppy will always lay in your way.

6.  Leaving all the complicated cuts to my husband is a good idea.

7.  My love of hardwood floors is reaffirmed.

Below is a quick image of the floor.  We still need to finish up the trim and all the other small details.  Happy with the results.  Will be very happy when the house no longer looks like a work zone.
