I like challenges. There is a natural competitive spirit in me that sometimes makes me accept challenges. Not necessarily a good thing all the time. Recently I finished a personal challenge of getting fit. I wanted to be in great shape with more strength so I would not get tired or wore out when I photographed multiple games in one day. I completed P90X and am extremely happy with there results. I definitely have noticed a difference in my strength and my energy level is much higher. Since I have finished that personal challenge I have been thinking about a business challenge. While I do have the football project, that is not a challenge really. It is challenging for me to get exactly what I want at times but it was not exactly what I was looking for. Enter Thomas Folke Anderson of Photography24Seven.com.
Thomas is challenging himself to make an image everyday in August with a compact camera. Nothing that is related to his current work. This seemed like a great idea to me. I did modify the challenge for myself. See, I do not have a compact camera. Is it okay as a photographer to admit that? I sometimes wish I had one because it does get a little annoying carrying my big camera around for personal things. Especially if I just want to have fun at a family event and just grab a few snapshots throughout the day. So anyway, I have been trying to meet this challenge and have not done too bad. Nowhere near as good at the challenge as Thomas but still happy that I took up the challenge. Here are his images from the challenge. And here are some of mine. And yes, the first one is kind of related to my project but I promise I took it for the challenge and not the project.

Hi Barb, I’m pleased that you have taken on the challenge, even with an SLR, to me that’s even more of a challenge just because of the extra bulk. And look what beautiful images resulted from it! If I was to pick a favourite of these thre it would be the football trainer thingy (not sure of the correct term here, sorry) it evokes a really beautiful mood and that – mood – is quite an elusive thing to capture in images! Superb!
Thanks a lot for the mention here and the link to the site. It’s much appreciated.
How is the football project coming along? Good?
P.S. Now, you might just have inspired me with your ‘get in shape’ comments. I need to get in shape. I always used to be, but life caught up with me, a little 12 month old girl and I hit 35 just the other day. But I firmly believe better physical condition gives you bundles of more energy both physically as mentally and you seem to have just underlined that for me again. My turn to be inspired…thanks! What’s P90X by the way?
Thanks for the comment! You picked my favorite of the ones I posted too. I have been trying to incorporate more mood in my images so it was so great to hear that from you.
Football project is coming along great. Keeping on top of things so far which is a good thing. Camp is almost over and pre-season games are starting which will be a nice change.
I know what you mean about life getting crazy and losing time to do things for yourself. And I do not even have a little girl to chase around:) I will be 36 shortly but feel much younger now after getting myself in shape. It definitely has changed my energy level and you are right, the mental level has been better too. P90X is a workout designed by beachbody.com. Kind of getting to be craze here in the US. Very time consuming as it is 6 days a week for about 90 minutes. Nice to have the DVDs though to do when I had time instead of trying to get to a gym. Have P90X+ now which is less time but harder workout. Definitely a commitment though to go that route.
Thanks again for the comment. I look forward to seeing your snaps the rest of the month. Trying to get some great ones myself. Making more of a commitment to it.
Take care.
Hi again Barb, thanks for the pointer on P90X – will have to check out beachbody.com and see what it’s all about. I just turned 35 by the way, so now I will have to see what I can do. The higher energy levels is what I need and I know getting in better shape can give me that. I will let you know if I get into some sort of routine!
Sounds good with the project. It’s 8:15pm and I am at work until 9pm and I’m yet to make my image for today…hmmm oh well, pressure, pressure…
