Happy Father’s Day!
I will admit I was a bit of a daddy’s girl growing up. Actually, I probably still am. We celebrated Father’s Day last night with the family. After dinner we got talking about Atari games which of course led to the games we played growing up. We had the cartridge version and also the Atari 800. The 800 of course allowed you to program your own games. Since my dad worked on computers for a living, (that’s all I really knew when I was young) I wanted to work on computers too. I remember programming my first game on that computer and thought it was the best thing. It was cool to show my dad when he got home from work and no matter how tired he was he always took the time to look and be a dad to me.
One thing still scares me to this day, the flat palm slamming into the bedroom door. That meant we were in big trouble and that my mom told my dad about the really bad thing I did that day. So much could be said with just that hand smack to the door. Even though I tried to justify what I did to him, I knew I was wrong and deserved my punishment. From taking away of toys to groundings. The punishment fit the crime even if I did not think so at the time. I mean, how can a teenage girl live without a phone
Thanks dad for all the things you taught me growing up and still continue to teach me. I know I sometimes failed at the lessons – remember trying to teach me how to drive a stick-shift – but I learned so much. You will never believe how many times my ability to tie a tie comes in handy. You are an amazing dad how continues to teach and give of yourself daily. Love you dad!
